A More Relaxed
Approach

- The
Church House, in
the heart of Thomas Hardy country is a small gem. It is run by two of
the nicest people you will ever meet on your travels. You will be welcomed
as personal guests in beautiful surroundings and invited to enjoy their
exclusive tours in southern England. As they say " We hope that you
will arrive as a guest and leave as a friend."
These vacations bear no
resemblance to the impersonal, mass travel arrangements that most
visitors to Britain have to endure. It is far more relaxing than driving
down narrow country lanes on the wrong side of the road, to have a
knowledgable driver/guide to take you at your own pace, to linger
if you wish while you enjoy your own Private
view of England. As well as the famous sights, you will visit
smaller treasures, off the beaten track, that few visitors get to
see. Whatever your interests may be, there is a qualified guide/driver
at your disposal. Meals are superb, with produce from the extensive
Church House garden and their candlelight
dinners are a memorable feature. Most of their reservations are from
previous visitors or by recommendations of past guests. I visited
the Church House in November and was
enchanted by this lovely home with its wonderful 18th. century charm,
combined with first class accommodation in charming suites, for up
to six guests.
In my view, this is one
of the best bargains I have seen, for despite the personal attention
and luxury, the all inclusive prices are surprisingly modest. As Bob
and Barbara told me: They enjoy their chosen role almost as much as
their guests and are content with the satisfaction that they find
and the friendships made rather than making large profits.
Because of the popularity
of this vacation and the limited availability, early booking is essential,
except during late fall and winter (an increasingly popular time with
knowledgable travellers). Stays normally range from seven to ten days
but can be for as little as four, which allows for a restful break
in a longer, more demanding tour.

Chauffeured Tours
- For the average traveller,
this is usually a prohibitively expensive option but we have discovered
an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful indulgence at a very reasonable
cost. Paul Treverton, to whom I was introduced during my recent trip
to Britain is an ex-London "Bobby" who looks every inch the part. After
a distinguished career in the Metropolitan Police, he got into writing
articles about crime for national magazines, rescuing stranded people
from all over Europe for the Automobile Association, chauffeuring V.I.P.s
for large corporations such as the Chase Manhattan Bank, and subsequently
acting as driver/guide for customers wishing to see Britain and Europe
in style.
You choose the vacation
you want and see the places you wish to see. You can linger as long
as you wish, anywhere. Paul will arrange an itinerary or co-operate
with you in building a plan around a special interest. You will be
collected from the airport and delivered to your first hotel and from
then on Paul will be your constant guide and companion. I read his
file of letters from customers and without exception they gave glowing
commendations.
While tours are normally
for one or two weeks, longer or shorter periods can be arranged, perhaps
to form part of other plans. Paul has, over the years established
a list of exceptional bed and breakfast locations, which again helps
to keep costs to a minimum while offering pleasant and comfortable
en suite accommodations.
These vacations are just
a few of those which we can arrange and which illustrate our role
in the travel business. We are confident that the conventional travel
agent has rarely the knowledge and never the time it takes to design
a personalized holiday plan. Like the people at Church
House and Paul Treverton, we will never get rich but we
do have a lot of fun and satisfaction in utilizing our years of personal
travel experience in creating a rewarding travel experience for our
clients. Our aim is to turn tourists into travellers.
